  1. Special and with respect , made . Number four is my favorite , but that is only a personal choice. Is it irrespecutful for you or even misplaced to ask which one is your favorite and why. Call it curiosity for the maker of this piece of art. Cheers Bart

    1. Hi bart. Thanks for your kind comments. It is always difficult to say which piece I like best. A few drawings will be seen to be important pieces in development of the longer term work. I don’t post everything on my blog or website as not everything is worthwhile. The work you are looking at right now is January work so there is a lot to upload at some point! My favourite work will always be the piece that opens the door to the next one! Best, Nicholas.

  2. I don’t know about the Chiltern Hills; No 1786 captures exactly the atmosphere of the Australian bush after a fire has just passed through. and No 1789 could be anywhere along the road from our farm into the town. with the white ghost gums shining against the dark foliage of an iron-bark forest. I love that group of three. Tony

    1. Thank you for this interesting reply. Your words ‘with the white ghost gums shining against the dark foliage of an iron-bark forest’ are beautifully poetic! The Chiltern Hills are a rather pretty and gentle escarpment of hills to the North of London. My reasons for drawing them this way are more fully expressed here: http://www.nicholasherbert-drawings.co.uk There’s some more up-to-date work too there. Best, Nicholas
